Dog Training Classes
Training is an essential part of building a lifetime bond with your dog. It sets the foundation for years of good behavior and builds confidence for you and your dog. The trainers at Toledo’s PET Bull Project use only positive, reward-based techniques.

Class sizes are limited to provide the best benefit for dogs and their owners. Please register in advance for any class by completing and submitting a class enrollment form. By enrolling you are reserving a space in one of our courses. Please carefully consider your schedule, commitment to training, and your dog before enrolling for a class.
Vaccination records and payment are due when you enroll in any class. Make sure all fields are filled out on enrollment form. You will be required to create a Paypal account to pay with credit card.

PUPPY SOCIALIZATION CLASS
This class is to help young puppies up to 20 weeks of age learn proper socialization. Good habits learned by puppies at this age will help them become great dogs.
Learn how to handle the most urgent puppy training issues. Concepts and techniques introduced in this class provide a balance of positive motivation and challenges which build your puppy’s confidence while encouraging your puppy’s capacity for learning. Furthermore, many of the skills taught in this class such as, walking on a loose leach, sit, down, and come when called help develop your puppy’s self control. This class also covers problem-solving ideas for potty training, chewing, teething, digging and more.
This class is a 5 week class, first class will be without your puppy.

GOOD MANNERS (BASIC OBEDIENCE) CLASS
Does your dog have bad manners? Does he jump on people? Does he pull you when you try to take him for a walk? All this can be fixed with the proper training.
Learn training techniques for dealing with inattentive, out-of-control, noisy and hyperactive adolescent and adult dogs. Brush up on manners and obedience skills. The skills and concepts introduced in this class include, but are not limited to, general house manners, impulse control, walking on a loose leash, coming when called and waiting at entrances and exits (doors and gates). Information and advice pertaining to specific behavioral issues are routinely addressed during this class. Training is introduced through positive and motivational techniques which makes learning fun for both you and your dog! The perfect class for a newly adopted dog.
This class is not intended for training aggressive/reactive dogs. Please see our other training options for this type of issue.
This is a 5 week class, first class is an orientation without your dog.

Good Manners Class
$120.00GOOD MANNERS LEVEL 2
Has your dog already been through a Basic Obedience/Good Manners class but acts totally different away from your home? If you answered YES then this class may be just what you need.
More and more people have issues with their dogs walking politely on a leash and greeting or leaving other dogs alone while on a walk.
This class is designed to build on the skills you learned in Basic Obedience and covers such things as leash work/outdoor pack walk, creating a more reliable recall, sit/down from a distance, reaction to other dogs and other distractions, improved attention work and Impulse control.
This class will prepare your dog for the Canine Good Citizen certification.
Prerequisite for this class is Basic Obedience/Good Manners. Dog must be able to sit, down, stay, and come.
This is a 4 week class.

ONE-ON-ONE EVALUATION/TRAINING SESSIONS
We also offer the option of one-on-one sessions.
Do you have a dog who reacts negatively to leashes, people or other dogs? Our trainers will work one-on-one with you and your dog to evaluate and help you understand why and how to address these common issues.
These sessions are not just for dogs with behavior issues; they are for anyone who prefers not being in a classroom setting or would just rather have individual training.
The one-on-one session is about an hour and the cost is $80.

DOG TRICKS CLASS
Have fun with your dog and keep them from being bored in the winter. Enroll in our trick class! Your dog will have so much fun they won’t even know they are being trained.
We will teach you how to train your dog to roll over, spin, back up, wave, bow, and more.
This is a 5 week class
Your dog should have some basic obedience training prior to taking this class.

Dog Tricks Class
$120.00AKC RALLY
AKC Rally is one of four companion events (obedience, Rally, agility, and tracking). Rally develops better teamwork between you and your dog as well as sharpens your dog’s obedience skills and behavior – at home and in public.
You and your dog navigate a course together, side-by-side, at your own brisk pace. You move him through a course with signs where he performs different exercises. The courses include various turns and commands such as sit, down, stay, etc.
Unlimited communication from the handler such as verbal commands, clapping your hands, patting your legs and using hand signals to praise and encourage your dog.
This class is for those just starting out in canine sports for competition or just wanting to take basic obedience to the next level. This is a 6 week class.
Your dog should have some basic obedience training prior to taking this class.
WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANY CLASSES SCHEDULED
THERAPY DOG TRAINING
Take this class along with your dog to help provide a much-needed service to our community. Our hope is that you and your dog will be a team for our programs including Pawsitive Reading Program, Pet Safety and Humane Education after successfully completing this class. Toledo’s PET Bull Project’s Therapy Dogs will be covered under our insurance if you participate in one of our programs.
A therapy dog must be a calm and well-mannered dog who has patience and no aggression. The class requirements are as follows:
Sit, Down, Stay, Walks nicely on a leash, Leave it, Recall
Dogs should be 1 year of age
The first class is for handlers only. There will then be two 2-hour workshops and the fourth class will be evaluations. This information will be distributed at the first class.

CANINE GOOD CITIZENS TESTING
Toledo’s PET Bull Project offers testing for your dog’s Canine Good Citizens certificate. This certificate shows that your dog is a good citizen. Call 567-315-8051 for more information or to make an appointment to get your dog tested.
